And it's a good one, sorta long.... but good! It is indeed snowy outside, which is why the title of this post is what it is... so... ENJOY!

It's been a while

Hello all,

Sorry for such the long lapse in between posts. Also, sorry for the long gap between podcasts. Apparently Josh Puckett is working like a madman nowadays, and I just got a new job, so life is absolutely ridiculous crazy right now.

But let's forget about all that, and focus on what's been goin on lately.
Well Leopard was just recently released, I tried to install it once, and it gave me an error, so then I got cold feet and decided not to install it because I didn't have a complete system backup, so I didn't wanna take any chances. But I think I'm gonna try it again here in a couple weeks when I go home for Thanksgiving.

Speaking of which, we are going to be continuing tradition with the annual campout at Best Buy, for Black Friday deals.  I started this tradition in 2003, and it's been going strong ever since, and the group has gotten bigger every year as well.
The first year it was just me and my dad who went out at 3am and stood in line for about 3 hours and we were about 25th in line.
Just to give you an idea of how it has grown since 2003, last year we got there at 9pm the night before, and we were about 150th in line.  I know, ridiculous, right. But the weather was absolutely amazing too, so I think that contributed to the craziness. So in a sense, I hope that the weather is terrible so that it won't be as packed, but then it sucks because your sitting out in the snow and rain for about 9 hours.

But it's all about the experience. Sitting out there with friends, and playing poker, and just talking all night. Your fingers and toes freezing so bad that they feel like they're going to fall off. Just to say that we did it.  Not to mention the deals are absolutely amazing. I'm probably not going to get anything major this year. I'll probably get a stack of blank dvd's for free, and maybe some flash drives to resell. But thats about it. Of course, once I get in the store you just grab everything in sight.  I dont know what comes over me, but its just like the excitement of the moment and all of the sudden I just fill me arms with stuff. Its crazy. Then when I'm standing in the checkout line I realize what I have and start getting rid of it. lol. Its so much fun.

So, I say all that to say this, if you wanna come out and join us for the campout at Best Buy, feel free. I'm not sure what time we'll be getting there, but probably sometime early, like I said, last year we got there at 9pm the night before. So probably somewhere around there. But here's the thing, if you don't get there when we get there then we can't let you in line with us. You'll have to get to the back of the line.

But if you wanna go, just email me jsquaredpodcast@gmail.com or give me a call at my Grand Central number by hitting the Call Me button you see to the right of this post, and leave a voicemail. Put that "Call Me" button to good use.  And we'll be happy to have you come out and have a good time with us.
O yeah and if we don't put out a new episode before Thanksgiving, then we are definitely going to put out a special edition Thanksgiving episode of the JSquared Podcast. So look forward to that.

I hope to talk to you all before Thanksgiving.

Peace,
Josh Burns

CALL ME!

Hey everyone, so I was gonna wait to talk about this on the podcast but I couldn't wait.

So if you look directly to your right on this page you will see a nice blue shiny button that says "Call Me" and some of you may be wondering what that is.  Well I am going to tell you.
I just got this service called Grand Central and it gave me a phone number which I can have connected to any phone that I want to.  For example, if I was going to be out of my room then I could have all my calls to my room forwarded to my cell phone, and vica versa, but thats just the beginning.  You can also call me from this blog. Just click on the button and see what happens, it will ask you for your number, but don't worry, its not going to steal your information or anything, all it is going to do is call your number and then it will automatically call me, so if you've got a comment about the blog or the podcast, then you can call me and leave a message. I think we are going to call it the JSquared Podcast Hotline.

But there is a ton more stuff that I can do with this, but I'll talk more about that on the next episode of the podcast, which by the way will be a good one because we are planning on having my good friend Jared Tolley as a guest on the show. So be sure to tune in.

Ok so the moral of this post is, to click on that call me button and try it out.  I mean what could it hurt. Absolutely nothing actually. And be sure you leave me a good message.  Thanks for subscribing.

See you on the flip side,
Burno of the JSquared Team

p.s. the coldplay video is very close to 1,000 hits, so tell your friends about it so we can get to that 1,000 mark Coldplay Video
Also the Angels and Airwaves video is getting more hits, so keep em comin The Adventure

JSquared Review

So I meant to blog about this sooner but time is of the essence and I don't have much of it these days, so here I am.

A couple of our faithful listeners were kind enough to email us after listening to one of the episodes and I just thought I would include a portion of that email for all of you out there to read, this email was received from Chags and they say,

"Hello gentlemen, Chags just listened to one of your podcasts. One of the
members of Chags, Chelsi, just listened for the first time. Chags thinks
the jsquared podcasts will dominate the internet at some point in the (very
distant) future...Chags is looking forward to the new episode.
Peace-out.
Love, Chags"

So, just wanted to thank Chelsi and Maggie for emailing us this encouraging letter, and we are glad that you are looking forward to the future episodes.
These are the types of emails that keep us going, it lets us know that you all are out there and enjoy listening.
But also we would love to hear suggestions or topics that you would like us to talk about.  But just sending us a small email like this helps us alot as you can tell, I mean if I'm willing to blog about it then its gotta be something big.

Alright, be lookin for the next episode here in the next week or so, it should be a good one, got alot of stuff to talk about.  Thanks again to all of you.

Keep it real,
JSquared Team

p.s.
enjoy

Hasta La Vista Baby Episode 7

Yo everyone, well it is official, the JSquared Team has now put out our first episode from hundreds of miles apart, thanks to the great technology of skype.  Unfortunately, one half of the Jsquared Team (cough, Josh Puckett, cough) forgot to use headphones while using Skype so there is an obvious echo of my voice, but we hope that you can just block that out and enjoy the great content from this weeks episode.

We talk about a whole plethora (sorry for the use of big words) of subjects, everything from Arnold Schwarzenager to a Laser Fire Extinguisher.  Also you hear the voice of our beloved friend and roommate of Puckett, Derek Taylor, so be listening for that. We also cover the new line of iPods, so this episode is just all around fun.

Actually this is also the first show that was done with no pre-show prep. So it is a little more scattered than usually, but that also means that we were a little more looser and able to have a little more fun with the show.

I'll try to have some type of shownotes up, but not sure when that is gonna happen, seeing as I'm putting off homework right now just to put out the podcast and update the blog.

So thanks for tuning in, and reading the blog, hope you'll stick around for alot more to come. We love all our faithful listeners.

Peace out,
The JSquared Team

The Galactic Suite Episode 6

If you have refreshed your iTunes Podcast feed recently you will have noticed that a new episode is finally up and running.  Now you can hear our voices once again talking about the things that you like to hear about in the world today.

Thanks to the old version of Garageband, the last 10 minutes of the podcast got cut off for one reason or another.  And because I had a long weekend but still was pressed for time today, I just decided to put this episode out with no editing whatsoever.  Now when I say that, I mean, no shortening, or taking out the "ums" and "uhs" so we'll see how it turns out, but this is the first episode I have done that with.  Everything else is still there, the intro music, and then the song at the end, so don't worry.
Yeah, so just wanted to warn you all about that. That might be how I start doing all the podcasts if we can pull it off hopefully, because it is a big timesaver, and then if I ever get the new version of iLife then I can start doing enhanced podcasts but we'll see.
Also, the shownotes for episode 6 can be found by clicking here
Well, enjoy "The Galactic Suite" and give us some feedback on the blog.
Thanks to all,
Burno over and out for the JSquared Team
p.s. for your enjoyment, the picture above is what they think the Galactic Suite might look like

24-Hour Days

So I've decided that a day consisting of 24 hours is definitely not enough. Sleep, school, soccer, food, and then more school is basically what my life has consisted of for the past 2 weeks. Of course God takes priority over all of those things, but I'm just giving you a quick run-down.

I'm writing this to send out my deepest apologies to all of you faithful listeners of the JSquared Podcast.  You all probably know why I'm apologizing but just to get it out there, I am very sorry for not getting out this last episode.  Life has been crazily busy and crazy the past couple weeks, and I have not had a chance to edit this past episode that we recorded like 3 weeks ago, lol.
Have no fear though, it Lord willing will be edited this weekend since we have a long weekend off for Labor Day. It is a good episode though, so just sit tight and please use anymore patience that you have left in you.
Thank you to all of you who participated in the JSquared Podcast Poll, we would like to have as many of you participating in that as possible, its just one of the many fun things that we do here at the JSquared blog and Podcast.
Also, you might have noticed another addition to our blog, the "Josh's cool stories" section, this is where I share some cool stories that I read in my RSS reader and think that you all might be interested in. So check that out. And there are also some other additions that you can check out as well.
So click around and see what you can find. And please feel free to leave comments anywhere you want. Don't know if I made that clear on the first post, but we like your feedback so leave comments on whatever.
Thanks again for stopping by,
JBurns signing off for the JSquared Team
p.s. here is a picture to relax you, so look at it while you wait for the next episode patiently.

Talkshoe

So, I just discovered Talkshoe.com eh, about 2-3 months ago, and let me tell you, I am addicted. I found it when I started listening to the maccast loop podcast which is a live podcast that is done every Sunday at 1pm est. at Talkshoe, and ever since then if I have some freetime then I am on Talkshoe looking for a "Live Now" show to listen to and participate in.

It is so cool, long gone are the days of old fashioned talk radio, where you have to call in from a phone, and wait for the host to put you on the show before you can talk.
Now with Talkshoe, it is the same idea, you can call in either through, your normal phone, or you can use VOIP like Skype, or they have this new feature where you can call in straight from the Talkshoe chat client without having to worry about Skype, or a phone line.

That is the other feature of Talkshoe that I absolutely love, is the chat client that Talkshoe provides. This is what makes it so unique and different from just good ol' fashioned talk radio, you can participate in the show without even coming on the phone and verbally talking.
Usually if it is a fairly well-known show then there are at least 5-7 people in the chat room that are listening to the show that you can talk to and connect with. And then if you would like to call in and participate in the show verbally then that is very easy as well.

So, I just got done listening to one of my favorite talkshoe shows which is "OneGeekandaMicrohpone" (www.onegeekandamicrophone.com) and it is a fairly well-known show, but not so well-known that it is impossible to call in and talk. It is a very relaxed setting and you can just talk about whatever you want.

So, I've said all that to just let you all know that Talkshoe.com is an awesome tool and you should head on over there and search for a show of your interest and then find out when the next live show is, and then just go and participate.
Also, I said all that to say that I am thinking about starting a talkshoe show, and I want to know what you all think about the idea. I would like a way for you all to be able to call-in and participate live in the show. If you think this would be a good idea let me know, and tell me what time and day would work best for you as a listener. We could talk about whatever you want, seeing as the original JSquared Podcast is pretty general and we cover a wide variety of topics, we could talk about whatever your little heart desires.

So some feedback on this idea would be great. It is preferred that you leave a comment right here on the post on the blog, that way everyone can read it, or if you prefer you can email your feedback to jsquaredpodcast@gmail.com
Thanks, and hope you all are having a glorious Monday, yay, o and as I mentioned in the previous post we will be getting out another episode before me and Josh leave for school, so be looking for that.

Leaving

Hey everyone,
Well, I finished my last day of work today at the factory, which was great. I mean it was a good summer job, but I was ready to be done. So I've got 1 week left before I go back to school in Chicago. So me and Esteban (Josh Puckett) are planning on putting out one more episode of the JSquared Podcast before we leave to go to school. It should be a good one.
But have no fear, we will continue to put out the podcast even though we will be 8 hours apart, thanks to the technology of Skype and Audio Hijack Pro. But I know you all don't care about the technology behind it, you just care about the content, that is why we are working hard to come up with the news that you are interested in, as well as working hard to make it easier and easier for you to get the podcast, whether it is in your iTunes, your web browser, or on your iPod.
Also, I just wanted to thank all of you out there listening every week, and sticking with us, even though we did get off to a bit of a rough start. But as you can tell the episodes are getting better and better, so just stay with us and you will continue to receive some great content.

So thanks again, and I will talk to you all later,
Josh B.

New Look

Hey everyone,

As you can tell the blog is getting a bit of a makeover. I'll be trying out some new layouts and different things over the next couple days, just to see what looks best, and to keep it looking fresh and new.
Leave some comments on what you think about each different layout, and maybe we can find one that looks best.

Thanks for stoppin' by,
JSquared

Episode 5 Shownotes and Links

Hey Everyone,

Hope you enjoyed the 5th episode, below is a link to the shownotes and links to different websites that we talked about.
Give us some feedback as to what you think about the shownotes and everything, and what we could do better with them.
Thanks for listening.

Also, I made a little goof when I uploaded the 5th episode so when you refresh your podcast feed in iTunes it will not automatically download the 5th episode because it thinks that is an earlier episode, so just hit refresh and then it will be greyed out and then you have to click on the get button to actually download the 5th episode.
Sorry for the confusion.

New podcast in the works

So I know what you all are wondering, "where is the fourth episode of the JSquared Podcast?" Or at least I hope that is what you're wondering. Well if you are, have no fear, a new episode is in the works. And this will be one of the best ones yet, so just be patient. They're getting better and better as we continue to delve into this world we know as podcasting.
This next episode is going to include everything from a skype interview of a very coolio person, to some news about the well-known and addictive site known as Facebook.com. So stay tuned, the JSquared team hasn't fallen off the face of the earth, although one half of the team has been gone for the past week, so I've had to do it on my own, but thats ok, its still fun.
Also another thing contributing to the mayhem is that I've been working 2 jobs and will be almost everyday this week. Not that I'm making excuses or anything because I'm certainly not, I love doing the podcast every week, its just that life is busy, so that's what has been going on, in case you were wondering. So I hope to have this next episode out to you by the end of this week.
I'll talk to you all later, and thanks for sticking with us.
